Finis – another successful WIP-it Wednesday

OpptunaOpptuna is done.  I knit all the pieces over Presidents Day weekend, seamed it sometime back in July and just got around to finishing the crochet edging around the hood, which is horrible.  Take away one of my ‘sticks’ and I’m useless.

I love this little sweater.  It’s Opptuna from Corneila Tuttle Hamilton’s Noro Book Two.  I used just over two skeins of Noro Silk Garden.  This lovely little number is going in the gwfgwf box. Twodown

Two down, four to go.  I’m going to be  away for the next two Wednesdays so I think I’ll bring the denim overalls and  fingerless mitts with me.  Both are destined to be gwfgwfs gifts when finished.  Although I really want to finish the purple turtleneck too.  It would be nice to finish a sweater that I can wear.

Last night, my neighbor came over to knit.  (By the way Judy, Pauline says "Hi".)  She’s a new knitter and needed a bit of help with her pattern reading.  Java was thrilled to have the company and we both made excellent progress on our projects while watching both versions of Gaslight.  (We liked the 1940 version better.)  Pauline made it through half of an face on the Stitch ‘n Bitch Alien Scarf and I’m ready to bind off on a secret project.  If the blocking goes well, I may show you.  If not, well it’s going to the frog pond.

We’ve got rain and thunder storms here today (Java is cowering in the bath room), so I’ve settled in on the couch for a day of football/soccer.  First up Arsenal v. Liverpool.  I love watching Thierry Henry, and the style of football that Arsenal plays is gorgeous.  Next up some random NFL game until 3:30, when the Revolution take on the Houston Dynamo in the MLS Cup.  Go Revs!  Can they finally win the big one?  I hope so.  With all the talk about Shalrie and Deuce and European teams and retirement for others, it’s the last time this core group will play together.  These guys have been so close, they are like the Red Sox of MLS, always a bridesmaid, never the bride.

And to finish off my football/soccer Sunday, the Giants host the Bears tonight.  C’mon G-men!  I know you’ve got some injury problems, but please, please, beat the Bears.  I’ve hated the Bears ever since they did that "Super Bowl Shuffle".

Go Revs!

  1. Gaslight! I’ve only seen the 1940s version. All my life, whenever I would forget where I put something or find something in an unexpected place, my mother would put on a deep foreign accent and say, “Paula….”

Nice to see you chugging along on projects. I’m getting there.

  2. Bella? Was it Bella, not Paula?

  3. You are powering through that pile! :) Very inspiring….

  4. The sweater is adorable–and a great excuse to use some Noro. I am inspired by the crossed off projects in your photo. I briefly considered copying your idea, but then I realized that pulling together all the unfinished projects could easily become an unfinished project itself. :)

  5. Optunna is adorable!

  6. Oh I love that little sweater! I never considered it when I saw the picture on the book but now I’m thinking about making it. Yours came out so cute in those colors.
