Oh, what a tangled web we weave

No, I haven’t finished the socks yet (I have a problem with finishing).  Just the ribbing is left.  Cross my heart and hope to die, I promise to finish them this weekend.  I spent an hour or so last night working on this which has been languishing in my knitting basket for months:  P1010002_1

Attempting to unravel this Gordian knot into a skein of lovely gray/black Schaeffer fingering weight yarn.  Argh!!  I am not ready to slice through it yet.  I am stubborn.  The yarn will not win.  It will be untangled and wound into submission.  It will become a center pull yarn cake.  It will become a shawl for the office.  The blacks and grays are muted enough that the resulting shawl will go with everything in my work wardrobe.

Why did I pull this out of the basket for an hour or so of muttered cursing instead of finishing up the less than an inch of ribbing left on the sock?  Why?  Because I saw this at Cari’s blog.  Isn’t it luverly?  Kiri just got bumped down in the project line.

P.S. to Typepad Users –   As you know, Typepad has an upgrade <shudder> planned for this weekend.  Since I’m new to the blogging thing, I have a question for the old skool Typepad users – what is the appropriate offering for the Upgrade Gods?  Do I need to sacrifice some virgin wool?  Burn some acrylic incense?  Create an altar using CAT5 cables and knitting needles?  TIA
