The kid looked good, the Sox didn’t. Spending the afternoon at Fenway is such a lovely way to end the weekend. Thanks to a bicycle issue, I missed the first inning. It was hot (really hot) riding down the Southwest Corridor so I was thankful my seat was in the shade.

Lester pitched well, but he didn’t get any offensive support. Beltre’s E didn’t help matters. Those of us in attendance thought Blue (the umpire) let him down too and disagreed with both calls at the plate. After the second safe call at home, the crowd started booing everything he did. Someone even attempted a “CB Bucknor” chant, but that never caught on. All in all it was rather amusing.

Highlights of the game were attending the 600th Fenway sell out (although I have my doubts as to what a ‘sell out’ actually is), seeing Mike Cameron park one over the Monster, and watching Bowden making his big league debut. The kid looked good, too bad the offense came up short and couldn’t get him the walk off victory.
