Happy Birthday to the Pup

Today, she turned 14. We celebrated by taking some walks up to the park, meeting (and playing!) with some other pups, and adding some boiled chicken and pumpkin puree to her regular kibble. She is now sleeping hard and making all sorts of cute doggie noises and twitches in her sleep.

I adopted Java when she was 6 months old. Her background was she came from a family on the South Shore who had 5 kids under the age of 10 and a neighbor decided that they needed a dog, the Mom disagreed so she ended up at the shelter at Angell.

For many years I lived down the street from Angell. I can’t tell you what compelled me to go to the shelter that afternoon, but as soon as our eyes met I had to have her. We’ve had some rough times, and spent many hours training each other, but she is perfect. The perfect pup for me and I cherish every moment we spend together.
