A little bit of cultchaa

So what are y’all doing next week?  On Wednesday evening Judy and I are heading to Boston Common for an evening picnic with Willy.  Of course we are bringing our knitting, lawn chairs, and some snacks.  Care to join us?  Last year’s version of The Taming of the Shrew (set in the North End) was awesome.  This year they are doing A Midsummer’s Night Dream.

I am making progress on the Sockapalooooza socks.  I’m just an inch or so away from starting the heel. I’ve set aside Saturday afternoon for that.  Why Saturday afternoon?  Because I’m making up the pattern as I go and this will be my first time knitting a gusset/heel flap on a toe up sock.  Want to make sure I get it right.  I’ll post a picture soon.  I thought about taking a picture yesterday in the gorgeous sunshine, but ran out of time and today it is gray and dismal out.  If we get a break in the weather, I’ll rush outside with the socks and the camera.  I’m using Louet Gems in a gorgeous teal.  As soon as I knit my way through the sock yarn stash (hah!), I am sooo buying more of this yarn.  Oh, and if you were wondering about the new Addi Lace Needles – love them!

Carry on.

  1. The sock I always knit (just subbing in stitch patterns) is a toe-up with gusset/heel flap, based on Judy Gibson’s Generic Toe-Up Pattern.

Love Louet GEMS – it’s the base for some great yarns (Cherry Tree Hill, Koigu, etc).

  2. That sounds like fun!

  3. i’m going to try and hit up shakespeare on the common as well. i’ve never gone before, but it should be really fun! have a great time!

  4. oh, that sounds so cool! I’ll be at my beloved neurobiology class ’til 8:30, but have a great time!
